What is Juminhyou (住民票) and what is the My Number card (マイナンバー)?
Juminhyou (住民票 - residence certificate) is considered a type of authentication document, this Juminhyou will be provided by the city hall where you live. This type of paper will be necessary when you do procedures such as applying for a part-time job, changing your status of residence, submitting documents to the school, or sponsoring relatives to come to Japan. However, most city halls work during business hours which makes it difficult for people to ask for time off from school or work to apply for the paper.
The situation will change if you have a My Number card with the picture and the chip, then you can get the documents at any convenience store in Japan. The price will be 250 yen and will be more convenient in terms of time.
